The Policies and Regulations of the Southern California Music School have been established to assure consistency, fairness and continuity of study. We ask that all students abide by them.
REGISTRATION
Registration involves payment of tuition for one month in advance. A material deposit fee will be assessed and will be refunded in the third month of lessons. The first month's tuition payment is non-refundable in the event of cancellation or early withdrawal. Any and all materials received as part of our free music book supply will be invoiced in the event that student has not paid a material deposit fee and is withdrawing early.
TERMS OF PAYMENT
Students will be invoiced on a monthly basis and payment of the monthly tuition fee is due in full prior to the first lesson of the month. Please note that the monthly tuition fee is to be paid in full whether or not all classes are attended. A late fee of $10 will be charged if tuition payments are not received by the due date on the invoice. There is also a $15 charge for all returned checks. For your convenience we also accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards.
CREDIT CARD INFORMATION
Upon registration a credit card number is required to reserve your lesson times. This information will be kept with your registration information. This card will not be charged unless you specifically request that a charge be made to that card - at that time you may request that the card supplied be used or provide us with alternate payment. Accounts that are past due for more than 30 days will be charged to the credit card on file.
STUDENT ABSENCES/MISSED LESSONS
When a student signs up for private lessons or classes, he/she is paying for a specific lesson time slot. Since this time slot is reserved for the student and no other students can be booked during that time, payment of a lesson is due even when the student is not able to attend. At the discretion of the instructor a make-up lesson may be offered. However, the instructor is not obligated to make up lessons for student absences.
In the event that an instructor is absent for any reason, a make-up lessons will be offered to the student if a substitute is not available. If a student absence is unavoidable, the student is requested to notify the office and/or the instructor directly as a courtesy. Please note that students are expected to arrive on time for their lessons. In case of late student arrivals the instructor is not obligated to extend the lesson, and lessons will end at the student's scheduled time.
WITHDRAWAL FROM LESSONS
Please note that non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal from lessons. If the student wishes to withdraw from lessons, he/she must submit a withdrawal request per e-mail, fax or mail to the office two weeks prior to the anticipated withdrawal. The student will be charged for lessons during the two-week notice period. Please also note that notice given to the instructor is not sufficient.
REFUNDS & CREDITS
Please note: Any refunds are for private instruction only. No refunds are given to students withdrawing from group classes, ensemble or chamber music programs. Any credits on student accounts will expire after six months.
TEACHER-STUDENT ISSUES
We strongly recommend students to discuss any issues regarding their lessons, course of study, etc. with their teachers directly. If for some reason a resolution of the issues cannot be attained that way, we will be happy to discuss any student concerns and help provide solutions.
SAFETY & SUPERVISION
The Southern California Music School cannot provide supervision for students left alone before or after their lessons. Parents are encouraged to wait with their children and attend the lessons. Parents dropping off students at the lesson location and leaving do so at their own risk and the Southern California Music School cannot be held responsible under any circumstances. |
